MVC - Portuguese Limestones, in collaboration with sculptor Carlos Oliveira, inaugurated the monument "Asas de Anjos" on the island of Corvo, in tribute to the victims of the tragic shipwreck of the boat "Senhora da Vitória" (known as "Francesa"), which occurred on August 13, 1942.

The artwork symbolizes the shipwreck in which seventeen people lost their lives, each represented by a feather sculpted into the piece. These feathers form a silent and solemn tribute to the memory of the victims, preserving their remembrance in the history of this tragic event.

The partnership between MVC and Carlos Oliveira resulted in a work of art that not only honors the victims but also showcases the limitless possibilities of combining limestone, advanced technology, and artistic talent.

The "Asas de Anjos" monument has now become a landmark in the landscape, inviting reflection on the lost lives and the lasting impact of events that have marked the local history.
